Just north of campus at the UC Davis Health System in Sacramento, the Center for Health and Technology and the Center for Virtual Care improve the quality of healthcare through education, training, and specialty care services. This 52,000 square-foot joint facility offers HD-equipped classrooms, four telehealth training exam rooms, an inpatient room, outpatient clinic, and a technology demonstration suite. The Center for Virtual Care features a full-size emergency room trauma bay, operating room, inpatient unit, six-bay simulation education area, exam rooms, and sophisticated training mannequins. The adjacent media production studio makes on-site development and distribution of instructional media possible. These advanced training centers connect UC researchers and practitioners with remote clinics across the state of California, enabling the delivery of life-saving care and innovative IT solutions.

Summer of Service Institute shares videos and photos

Soheil Ghiasi
Soheil Ghiasi received his PhD in Computer Science from UCLA in 2004 and received the Harry M. Showman prize from the UCLA College of Engineering in the same year. He has been on the faculty at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, UC Davis since 2004, where he directs Laboratory for Embedded and Programmable Systems (LEPS).

$100 Million Grant Launches Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation today announced $100 million in founding support to launch the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California, Davis. The new school and its programs will serve approximately 450 students and will incorporate UC Davis’ expertise in public health, telemedicine and health technology.

Paul Wright named CITRIS Acting Director
Paul Wright, the current Chief Scientist at CITRIS, has been appointed Acting Director of the institute. Prof. Wright is a professor in Mechanical Engineering and co-director of both the Berkeley Manufacturing Institute and the Berkeley Wireless Research Center.

Thomas Nesbitt has been named CITRIS@Davis Chief Scientist. He is currently the Executive Associate Dean for Administration and Clinical Outreach and is a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine who specializes in rural health and the use of advanced telecommunications technologies to improve access to medical education and care.
