CITRIS Aviation supports the interdisciplinary development of cutting-edge technologies, applications and policies to generate social and economic benefits for everyone.
Aviation is on the cusp of transformative change. The promise of low-carbon commercial transportation, urban air mobility and ubiquitous drones have profound potential to affect our lives and environment.
CITRIS Aviation harnesses the myriad opportunities provided by discoveries in propulsion, batteries and materials; applications of artificial intelligence (AI), automation and the Internet of Things (IoT); innovations in mapping and imaging technology; and more.
This initiative endeavors to integrate and enhance faculty and staff expertise, research and educational programs, and aviation assets across UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Merced and UC Santa Cruz.
We also convene the CITRIS Aviation Working Group, a dedicated group of research experts across the four campuses. Email Peter Glenn to request an invitation.
The CITRIS Aviation Prize challenges student teams to design, develop and demonstrate an autonomous flight of at least 115 miles within a circuit of at least 5 miles in circumference with a small UAV.
