Daniel Kammen, CITRIS researcher, UC Berkeley professor and co-principal investigator of the EcoBlock project, was a co-author on a Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report that found that inequity regarding gender, ethnicity and income can exacerbate vulnerability to climate change.

“A natural start is to develop policies to target these underserved communities with enhanced attention and support,” he said.

Kammen received a 2021 CITRIS Seed Award to examine how distributed energy systems support vaccine cold chain resilience in Africa.
