A research team led by CITRIS PI Andrew Fisher is adding final touches to a study that will help inform an Army Corps of Engineers as it designs and builds a Pajaro River levee project aimed at reducing flood risk while benefiting water quality, groundwater recharge and wildlife habitat.
Two years after breaking ground on the Pajaro River Flood Risk Management Project, work to construct a levee along Corralitos Creek is in high gear. Fisher’s study, conducted by a team of UCSC student researchers and supported by a $1.9 million grant awarded in 2023, could help inform the project’s design to benefit water flow and quality.
