CITRIS@Davis recently held a Sustainability Award Competition open to teams of UC Davis undergraduates. Proposals were submitted that addressed new ways for energy sustainability, and to reduce greenhouse gasses linked to environmental change.
The winners of the first Sustainability Award Competition at CITRIS@Davis are Tom Rumble, Alex Beckerman, Nick Raymond, Teresa Yeh, and Kevin Quach. This talented group of students won for their project on “Ocean Wave Electricity”. They created a prototype that can harness mechanical energy created by ocean waves to produce and store electricity. The group will now complete the project, publish their results this summer, and exhibit their prototype at the UC Davis Undergraduate Research Conference and Picnic Day. Congratulations to this group!
