On May 10, the White House convened 100 national leaders in industry, tech, government, and academia for a summit on the potential of artificial intelligence (AI). CITRIS director Costas Spanos, one of 9 academics in attendance, advanced a human-centric agenda: “With many AI applications so close to the human experience, the overarching moonshot will be to make AI explainable, interpretable, and thus trustworthy,” says Spanos.
