This project focuses on the design, deployment and operation of microgrids for on-site renewable power generation. As more power demand is being met by decentralized renewable energy, there has been only limited research on the dynamic interfaces among utility companies and local microgrids (supply) and the user/consumer (demand). The researchers, based at UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis, are assessing and monitoring how users and consumers would use the systems and how that behavior would change over time and education on pricing.
