Carey, CITRIS researcher and UC Berkeley professor of Mechanical Engineering recently received an award from Hewlett-Packard as part of a growing research effort on sustainable energy technologies in the Energy and Information Technologies (EIT) Laboratory that he founded with CITRIS seed funding. Prof. Carey has attracted more that $250,000 in new funding for this lab in recently awarded grants from HP and UC Discovery.

HP today announced it has selected professors from around the world to receive awards as part of its second annual HP Labs Innovation Research Program.
The HP Labs Innovation Research Program is designed to create opportunities — at colleges, universities and research institutes around the world — for breakthrough collaborative research with HP.
Awards under the 2009 HP Labs Innovation Research Program are primarily intended to provide financial support for a graduate student to assist the Principal Investigator conducting a collaborative research project with HP Labs. Consequently, awards will provide cash support for one year in the range of USD $50,000 to $75,000, including any overhead.
