Claudia Lazzaroni is a professor at Sorbonne Paris Nord University (USPN, Villetaneuse, France) and conducts her research at the Laboratory of Process and Materials Sciences (LSPM, CNRS UPR3407). She obtained a Master’s degree in plasma physics (Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris, France) in 2007, followed by a PhD in the same discipline from École Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) in 2010. Her thesis focused on the experimental study and modeling of micro-hollow cathode discharges (MHCD) in argon at intermediate pressure. After her PhD, she completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Plasma Physics Laboratory at École Polytechnique, working on radio-frequency (RF) excited atmospheric-pressure plasma jets in collaboration with M.A. Lieberman’s team (UC Berkeley). In September 2011, she obtained a permanent position at LSPM (initially as an associate professor, and as a full professor since September 2025). She initially worked on the deposition of mixed oxides via plasma processes. Since 2016, she has been developing a new research area at LSPM: the deposition of boron nitride using microplasmas. Her work focuses on the fundamental experimental study and modeling of microplasmas to optimize processes based on low-temperature plasmas in reactive gas environments.
