UC Berkeley faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers and students are invited to join the CITRIS Tech Policy Initiative and the Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC) for an interactive online workshop on engaging with federal and state policymakers.
Representatives from UC Berkeley Government Relations will explain the boundaries between official university representation, expert academic commentary and personal advocacy. The session also will cover campus reporting obligations, effective ways to share research and policy recommendations with lawmakers and legislative staff, and resources available to support legislative engagement.
Whether informing technology regulation, developing public partnerships or exploring public-interest technology policy, participants will gain practical guidance for engaging decision-makers effectively and appropriately.
The workshop will take place online from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 21 and is open to UC Berkeley faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers and students.
