In July of 2012, CITRIS @ Santa Cruz co-sponsored a Machine Learning Summer School (MLSS) at UC Santa Cruz, which was organized by Professor Manfred Warmuth, Computer Science. The aim of this program was to provide a forum for research students, Information Technology professionals, and academics of all levels, from all over the world, to explore Machine Learning, from deep theory to practical applications.
Over the course of the two-week program, students enrolled in the Machine Learning Summer School attended presentations by invited industry guests from Google, Facebook, eBay, Netflix, IBM, Microsoft, and more. Distinguished faculty from a variety of renowned Universities, such as Purdue, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and UC Santa Cruz, also made presentations to the MLSS students. Following the previous MLSS at Purdue, this year’s UC Santa Cruz MLSS was considered a great success, and CITRIS @ Santa Cruz was proud to sponsor and provide facilities to host this noteworthy scholastic event.
