Build your skills and contribute to CITRIS’s mission of tech innovation for social good! CITRIS headquarters is seeking motivated students to assist core operations teams for the 2022–23 academic year (including optional summer hours). Open positions include:

Technology Writer

Collaborate with experts and leaders across CITRIS’s four campuses to distill complex information into compelling stories. You’ll help produce content in multiple formats such as feature articles and announcements, as well as news briefs, social media copy and more.

Typical tasks consist of interviewing a researcher about their groundbreaking technology, drafting an announcement to announce a new industry partnership, developing engaging social media copy to promote longform stories, and working with department staff to develop media designed to promote our unique capabilities and successes.

Required qualifications include a minimum of one to two years of experience writing and editing published content in a science- or technology-related environment, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

One position is available. The pay rate is $19–$25/hour.

Writing Assistant

Play an essential role in monitoring and sharing CITRIS’s success stories. You’ll be responsible for a database of news media mentions that reference the institution and affiliated researchers, and you’ll also draft summaries of featured coverage for publication on the CITRIS website. You may also be assigned to write short news stories for the CITRIS newsletter.

Typical tasks include monitoring daily media clips reports from various sources such as Meltwater and Google Alerts, entering media mentions into an Airtable database, drafting news briefs (50–150 words) that highlight coverage of interest to the CITRIS community, adding news briefs to a WordPress website, and researching and writing short articles about CITRIS programming.

Required qualifications include experience writing or editing content for web, print and social media; and the ability to appropriately represent CITRIS when coordinating with staff, students and faculty.

One position is available. The pay rate is $18–$21/hour.
