Composting in Sutardja Dai Hall

The Banatao Institute and the Building Sustainability at Cal Program
have teamed up to implement UC Berkeley’s first building-wide
composting program, which launched on April 6, 2010.

56% of Sutardja Dai Hall’s waste was compostable food and packaging in a fall 2009 waste audit. The goal of this program is to divert this waste from landfills and make it into nutrient-rich compost. Building occupants and visitors can compost in the green compost bins in QualComm Café and the pantries on floors 2-7 next to the recycle and garbage bins.
