CITRIS Aviation researcher Susan Shaheen, a professor of civil and environmental engineering and co-director of the Transportation Sustainability Research Center at the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Berkeley, has been named to the California Air Resources Board, where she will help oversee climate policy implementation within the state.
After earning her Ph.D. in ecology from UC Davis, Shaheen started working at UC Berkeley in 2000, serving as an adjunct professor, program leader, research director, assistant and associate research engineer, and postdoctoral scholar. She is currently a member of the executive committee of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
