CITRIS at UC Santa Cruz has awarded funding to two new projects through the Interdisciplinary Innovation Program (I2P).

I2P supports projects focused on information technology solutions addressing significant societal challenges. This year’s projects include robotic handling for gentler, faster tagging of young salmon, and a low-cost drone platform for sea turtle hatchling dispersal tracking at a global conservation scale.

I2P, formerly known as the CITRIS UCSC Campus Seed Funding Program, is an annual program that invites principal investigators from UC Santa Cruz to apply for research support. Past projects have researched an open-source environmental sensing platform, AI-enabled cyber defense, coastal fog catchers and more.
