In collaboration with the Oral History Center at Bancroft Library, former California Gov. and CITRIS champion Gray Davis has released an oral history archive detailing his life.

Twenty-five years ago, Davis persuaded the state of California to invest in four visionary Institutes for Science and Innovation – CITRIS being one of them. Since then, the multi-campus institutes have inspired new research, collaborations and solutions to societal problems.

“Today, our research initiatives in aviation, climate, health and tech policy continue the legacy established by Governor Davis, to contribute intellectual leadership to areas of economic importance to the state,” CITRIS Director Alexandre Bayen said during an event celebrating the archive last month.

Davis’s volume joins those of other key political figures, including U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren, Governors Edmund G. “Pat” Brown, Ronald Reagan, and Jerry Brown.

Davis told UC Berkeley News that leaving behind a reflection of his term will inform historians and future policymakers alike.
