UC Santa Cruz is the first University of California campus to receive FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems Collegiate Training Initiative (UAS-CTI) program designation.

Students at UCSC can gain skills in drone operation through the CITRIS Initiative for Drone Education and Research (CIDER), which particularly focuses on supporting students from groups historically underrepresented in STEM and underserved students on campus.

“We are thrilled to be part of this cohort of institutions preparing our students for successful careers in the drone industry,” said CIDER Director Becca Fenwick. “We look forward to the continuous dialogue this program will provide on how to best serve our students and the wider community of stakeholders.”
