Lee Friedman

Lee Friedman is an economist interested in expanding the usefulness of applied microeconomics to the analysis of policy. His substantive policy research areas include criminal justice, public employment, energy, and school finance. His work analyzes how information affects the rationality of individual, organizational, and policy choices. His professional activities include evaluation of an experimental public employment program (for Vera Institute of Justice), school finance alternatives (for the U.S.

Professor Laurent El Ghaoui

I graduated from Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) in 1985, and obtained my PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University in March 1990. I was a faculty member of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées (Paris, France) from 1992 until 1999, and held part-time teaching appointments at Ecole Polytechnique within the Applied Mathematics department and Université de Paris-I (La Sorbonne) in the Mathematics in Economy program. In 1998, I was awarded the Bronze Medal for Engineering Sciences, from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France.

I4Energy Dedication

On January 29, 2010, we formally introduced the new i4Energy Center, with a panel of distinguished speakers from the California Energy Commission, the State Assembly, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the California Institute for Energy and Environment, and the Berkeley Campus. Following the introduction in the Banatao Auditorium, we dedicated the new i4Energy space on the fourth floor of Sutardja Dai Hall in the Banatao Institute at CITRIS. Photos of the event are online.

Professor Barbara Mellers

In January 2011, Barbara Mellers was appointed as the 11th Penn Integrates Knowledge Professor. Mellers, a globally influential scholar of decision making, is the I. George Heyman University Professor. This appointment will is shared between the Department of Psychology in the School of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Marketing in The Wharton School.

Professor Kevin Healy

Kevin Healy received his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania in Bioengineering in 1990. His research interests are biomaterials and tissue engineering. The design and synthesis of biomimetic materials that actively direct the behavior of mammalian cells to facilitate regeneration of tissue and organs, and the design and synthesis of materials that circumvent their passive behavior in complex mammalian cells is the focus of the work conducted at Berkeley.

Ashok Gadgil

Dr. Ashok Gadgil has a doctorate in physics from UC Berkeley, and is a Faculty Senior Scientist, and Director in the Environmental Energy Technologies Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and a Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley. He has substantial experience in technical, economic, and policy research on energy efficiency and its implementation — particularly in developing countries.

Bay Area Drupal Camp – CITRIS supports local open source community

CITRIS hosted the Bay Area Drupal Camp, an event supporting the local open source community. Drupal is an open source content management framework, currently being used to power www.citris-uc.org, and a huge number of websites on the CITRIS campuses, at other educational institutions, such as MIT, Stanford and Duke, and thousands of corporate, non-profit and governmental sites.
