By engaging students in middle school with the NexTech Robotics education program and supporting diverse and women students at community colleges and UC Merced through their academic careers with training opportunities, CITRIS is changing the face of the tech workforce to resemble California.
On the research side, CITRIS at UC Merced specializes in innovative agricultural production and food processing through integrating the whole food system: from energy to water and labor to end product. Home to the UC’s Center of Excellence on Unmanned Aircraft System Safety and faculty leaders on remote sensing, mechatronics and automation, UAV research is resulting in practical solutions in the fields of agriculture, water resources management and landscape ecology.
