The UC Berkeley School of Information, the Goldman School of Public Policy, and CITRIS Tech Policy are hosting UC Berkeley’s inaugural Tech Policy Week, which will showcase the breadth and depth of technology policy efforts across campus Oct. 20–23.
Join us for panels, workshops, roundtable discussions, networking events and dialogue across disciplines and sectors. Whether you’re a policy expert, researcher, student, or just beginning to explore the field, Tech Policy Week offers opportunities to learn, connect and lead.
On Monday, Oct. 20, CITRIS will host “Who Runs the Internet? ICANN’s Role in a Connected World,” a talk by Naela Sarras, vice president of stakeholder engagement for North America at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), at 2 p.m. in Sutardja Dai Hall 250. Beginning with a historical overview of ICANN’s formation in 1998, Sarres will trace the organization’s development as a response to the growing need for coordination of the Internet’s unique identifiers — including domain names, IP addresses and protocol parameters.
The week culminates in the half-day UC Berkeley Technology Policy Summit on Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Pauley Ballroom at 2495 Bancroft Way. Leaders from government, industry, civil society and academia — including CITRIS’s own Camille Crittenden — will convene for panels and roundtable discussions focused on shaping the future of tech policy through dialogue, collaboration and innovation.
