Prasant Mohapatra was a CITRIS advisory board member in his previous role as UC Davis vice chancellor for research. Other leadership positions Mohapatra held at UC Davis included associate chancellor, interim vice provost and chief information officer, and chair of the computer science department. He held the first Tim Bucher Family Endowed Chair in the Department of Computer Science from 2009–13.
In the past, he has been on the faculty at Iowa State University and Michigan State University. He has also held visiting scientist positions at Intel Corp., Panasonic Technologies, the Institute of Infocomm Research (I2R) in Singapore and National ICT Australia (NICTA). He has been a visiting professor at the University of Padovain Italy and Yonsei University in South Korea.
Mohapatra received his doctoral degree from Penn State University in 1993, and received an Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award in 2008. He is a fellow of the IEEE.
Mohapatra’s research interests are in the areas of wireless networks, sensor networks, Internet protocols, and QoS.
