Ming Wu appointed Chief Scientist at UC Berkeley

Ming Wu has been appointed the new Chief Scientist for
CITRIS at Berkeley. He is currently Professor of Electrical Engineering and
Computer Sciences at Berkeley, and Co-Director of Berkeley Sensors and
Actuators Center (BSAC).

“Ming brings to the CITRIS leadership a breadth of
understanding in a wide range of technical topics and in dealing with external
research partners and agencies,” notes Gary Baldwin, Executive Director. “His
expertise in optoelectronics and
related topics will be incredibly useful to the mission of CITRIS going
forward, especially as we place renewed emphasis on communications platforms
and various testbeds for experimentation and outreach. I'm personally looking forward
with great enthusiasm to working closely with such remarkable person. Welcome
aboard, Ming!” Professor Wu will work closely with UC Berkeley EECS Professor
Bernhard Boser to establish testbeds of embedded wireless networks for heathcare.

Professor Wu received his B.S. degree in electrical
engineering from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, and M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of
California, Berkeley in 1985 and 1988, respectively. From 1988 to 1992, he was
a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, New
Jersey. From 1992 to 2004, he was a professor in the electrical engineering
department at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also served
as Vice Chair for Industrial Affiliate Program and Director of Nanoelectronics
Research Facility. In 2004, he moved to the University of California, Berkeley.
