Celebrating scholarship from the AI Policy Hub

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is ushering in an array of potentially catastrophic risks, but policymakers and industry leaders have struggled to keep up with the pace of change.

In 2022, with support from the Future of Life Institute, the UC Berkeley Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC) partnered with CITRIS Tech Policy to launch the AI Policy Hub, an initiative dedicated to training UC Berkeley graduate students from diverse disciplines to develop governance and policy frameworks to shape the future of AI.

Under the guidance of 11 distinguished Berkeley faculty advisors, the AI Policy Hub welcomed three fellowship cohorts. Over the years, the 18 fellows have developed actionable governance in niche career fields and helped to embed technical defense into national policy.
