CITRIS Silicon Valley Forum: Visionary entrepreneur Thomas M. Siebel of C3 IoT and robotics pioneer Ken Goldberg of UC Berkeley are among the speakers lined up for this spring’s CITRIS Silicon Valley Forum, a new monthly lecture series launched by CITRIS and the Banatao Institute, a multi-campus research center driving technology for the public good.
The series kicks off on March 1 with a “fireside chat” between C3 IoT CEO Tom Siebel and CITRIS director and Berkeley faculty member Costas Spanos, to be held 4:00-6:00 pm at the UC Santa Cruz Silicon Valley campus at 3175 Bowers Ave. in Santa Clara.
All other events, covering robotics on April 5 with Ken Goldberg and Juan Aparicio of Siemens R&D, smart energy on May 3, and advanced medical technologies on June 7, will be held at lunchtime, 11:00 am-1:30 pm, at the same location.
“We especially look forward to bringing together partners from industry and the public sector at this convenient location,” says Director of Strategic Partnerships Pushkar Apte, who oversees a CITRIS membership program with industrial and academic partners from around the world.
The Silicon Valley Forum will continue in the fall, covering topics including health technology, agricultural technology, and the Maker Movement (dates TBA); and wrapping up for the year with a forecast on the future of work in the age of automation with former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm on December 6.
CITRIS and the Banatao Institute is a multi-campus Institute for Science and Innovation of the University of California, working with UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz and UC Merced to advance technology for the public good.
