CITRIS and CEC begin collaboration on Demand Response initiatives

CITRIS begins working with the California Energy Commission (CEC) to reduce the peak-load energy consumption behaviors using time-of-use and critical peak pricing.

2004 CITRIS participates in international exchange visits.

CITRIS begins a series of international exchanges beginning with a workshop in Munich to involve European and Asian industrial partners more fully in CITRIS research.

2005
CITRIS enjoys commercial success

Beyond academic success, by 2005, several commercial companies are launched or “spun-off” from CITRIS research including Dust Networks, Arch Rock, and Sentilla.

2008
CITRIS awards the first round of Seed Funding

CITRIS Seed Funding is awarded to 32 projects, supporting 64 graduate students, 38 undergraduate students, and 13 postdocs.

2009
New CITRIS headquarters marks new stage of innovation

Sutardja Dai Hall on the UC Berkeley campus becomes the new home for CITRIS and the Banatao Institute @ CITRIS Berkeley.

2010
California Telehealth Resource Center groundbreaking

The new UC Davis facility enhances CITRIS’ ability to collaborate with the California Telehealth Network in Sacramento to link 863 healthcare sites throughout California.

The Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) was formed in 2001, when researchers within the UC system realized that the real opportunities lay not just in developing new and innovative technologies, but in applying them.
