2008 CITRIS Seed Funding successfully launches projects

The CITRIS Seed Funding Program has been a great success this year. This program started more than a year ago as a way to kick-start research projects and centers on the four CITRIS campuses (UC Berkeley, UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Davis) by awarding between $50,000 – $75,000 for proposals that utilize information technology to solve large societal problems including healthcare, services, and intelligent infrastructures.

The program has awarded approximately $2 million dollars towards research support for almost 30 projects and centers. The executive committee that judged the proposals was impressed by the quality, strength, and vision of the projects.

The CITRIS Seed Funding Program has ended for all of the fiscal year ‘07. CITRIS plans to reinstate the Seed Funding Program in the fall of 2008 pending a satisfactory renewal of the CITRIS annual budget.
