The MacArthur Maze was partially destroyed following an explosion shortly before dawn on April 29th. The fire collapsed a section of Interstate 580 in Emeryville onto a lower deck, the I-80 to I-880 connector ramp, resulting in the worst Bay Area transportation disaster since the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
