Tech billionaire Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter has made hundreds of headlines since he first raised the idea in April.
One of his first posts after completing the purchase was to share “dubious assertions” about a recent attack on a politician’s spouse.
Brandie Nonnecke, director of the CITRIS Policy Lab, was interviewed by the San Francisco Examiner and The Washington Post about what Musk’s embrace of misinformation and conspiracy theories might mean for the platform.
“[Musk] wants to be the ruler of that kingdom,” Nonnecke said with The Post. “And I think by engaging with people on there, he’s trying to reinforce that he’s the one in charge.”
