On March 8, 2013, CITRIS @ UC Santa Cruz sponsored the Network Management and Operations (NMO) Lab’s semi-annual retreat, where student interns of the NMO Lab presented their project research to faculty sponsors and Cisco Directors and Managers. This retreat was well attended by researchers from Cisco, UCSC faculty, and student interns, and the attendees learned about seven projects, covering topics such as Big Data Management, Developing Customer Satisfaction Metrics, Software-Defined Networking, System Forecasting and Remote Management Systems.
The retreat attracted individuals from Cisco who are new to the NMO Lab and generated much discussion regarding potential research projects. CITRIS at UC Santa Cruz also facilitated interaction between Cisco attendees and faculty of the Technology and Information Management (TIM) Department at the Baskin School of Engineering, which generated interest of Cisco managers in attending post-graduate degree programs at UCSC through the TIM Department. This potential collaboration could increase the substantial benefits of the NMO Lab for everyone involved.
