The CITRIS Invention Lab is teaming up with Girls in Engineering to bring back our giant cardboard ball run challenge to Sutardja Dai Hall on Cal Day, April 18!
The CITRIS Invention Lab will be open for visitors on Saturday, April 18 for UC Berkeley’s Cal Day from 10 am to 2 pm. Cal Day is UC Berkeley’s annual open house event where tens of thousands of people, as well as new UC Berkeley admitted students, gather on campus to attend hundreds of events covering anything and everything Berkeley.
Outside of Sutardja Dai Hall on the Yali’s Cafe patio, we will have a large-scale, hands-on, interactive ball run constructed completely out of cardboard and wooden dowels. Led by CITRIS Invention Lab student “superusers” and the team from Girls in Engineering, visitors can learn all about the design process and get hands-on with materials that can be modified, added to, refined, dismantled and tested. Recycled materials will also be incorporated into the challenge which will make this year’s Cal Day even more awesome!
Inside the CITRIS Invention Lab, located on the first floor of Sutardja Dai Hall, student projects will be on display and there will be 3D printing and laser cutter demonstrations along with explanations of other equipment in the lab.
The door from the patio at Yali’s to the 1st floor will be open providing direct access between the CITRIS Invention Lab and outside so visitors have an easier time finding us.
