The incumbent uses advanced concepts and methods to meet strategic and operational objectives of the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS), a multi-campus research unit under the Office of Research and Economic Development. The CITRIS Program Analyst will resolve complex and competing demands of the program, not limited to strategic development of new programs and initiatives in advocating for advances in science and technology research and education. The analyst will resolve issues requiring knowledge of computing and information technology and will be required to gather and summarize data in support of programmatic objectives. The incumbent must exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results in support of programmatic objectives, campus-wide and cross-campus initiatives. A successful incumbent will develop and oversee the implementation of new programs and processes for CITRIS.

The incumbent will be required to handle critical and sensitive issues, information, and requests, and will require interaction with peers at the other CITRIS campuses. Programmatic demands include summarizing administrative reports, setting administrative priorities, and gathering relevant data in support of proposals and other CITRIS campus initiatives. The incumbent will provide administrative support to the Director and faculty associated with CITRIS. The position serves as the administrative liaison to the partner CITRIS campuses (Berkeley, Davis, and Santa Cruz) and includes day-to-day management of the Center office, including document management, purchasing, budget preparation and analysis, reporting, and communications.

The incumbent will be the main communication link with the partner CITRIS campuses, and will be expected to participate in administrative, operational, and planning meetings of the Center, including conference call sessions and travel to sister campuses. The incumbent will assist CITRIS faculty in the preparation of proposals and associated budgets, and will work with the UC Merced budget office directly in this capacity. The incumbent will oversee the CITRIS@Merced website and oversee the production of all print materials supporting the activities of the Center. As the Center grows, the incumbent will be responsible for hiring additional administrative support personnel, and as such will play a key role in the annual strategic planning activities of the Center.

The incumbent will provide administrative support to the CITRIS Director, not limited to meeting scheduling and support, communications support, and document and information management. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing agendas, gathering background materials, keeping minutes, maintaining records, and tracking all action items delegated to the Director. This work requires knowledge and understanding of the Director’s commitments and priorities, and maintaining discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism. Oversight of other administrative and clerical personnel and work-study students will be required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training required.
  • Master’s degree in related area preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, account and fund management, personnel management.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operations activities such as events planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Strong skills in short term planning, analysis and problem-solving and customer service.
