IBM visits CITRIS

Two IBM executives recently visited CITRIS to review ongoing projects with IBM and campus researchers. James Spohrer, worldwide Director for IBM’s University Programs and Director of IBM’s new Cognitive Systems Institute, and Jeff Welser, Director of the IBM Almaden Research Laboratory and Partnership Executive for UC Berkeley, were on hand to visit labs and learn about current collaborations. An evening reception featured a discussion of the rapidly developing field of Cognitive Computing, with a quiche that was uniquely generated by Chef Watson’s (the IBM supercomputer) algorithmic processes. IBM is a Founding Member of CITRIS.
