Plausible Fallacies and Inconvenient Truths, May 2

Throughout time, scholars and craftsmen have developed — and built upon — plausible explanations for what they observe in fields of technology and science. As our understanding grows, many of these ideas are proven wrong, but with nothing to replace them, they persist. Research to supplant these fallacies can open the door to major advances, but incorporating new and sometimes “inconvenient” truths can be a challenge for engineers and scientists.
