Can we build the grid from the bottom up for 2050?

The electric power grid will need to be dramatically different by 2050. The existing grid is centralized and hierarchical. It assumes generation can be accurately controlled, demand is predictable and inflexible and energy cannot be stored. In this talk we propose a data-driven bottom up system design for the power grid that does not require these assumptions.
