Aging in a Digital World

About this Event

This two-day conference brings together international thought leaders in aging, technology, and health care policy research, with the common goal of identifying gaps in these areas that delay the adoption of innovations to support aging in a digital world.

Event Need

The cost of care for aging populations is creating critical health and financial burdens on patients, families, and societies around the world. For example, national health expenditures in the United States are projected to grow at an average annual rate of 5.5% for 2018–27 and represent 19.4% of gross domestic product in 2027.

Someone turning age 65 today has almost a 70% chance of needing some type of long-term care services and support in their remaining years. These sobering statistics are becoming the norm internationally and the gap between the promise of tech innovations and the practicalities of implementing new models of care for older adults continues to grow.
