Building on research from the California Blockchain Working Group chaired by CITRIS Executive Director Camille Crittenden, Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed an executive order intended to support and regulate blockchain and cryptocurrency endeavors in California.
The state aims to define and create a stable business environment for companies in the Web3 space and to encourage officials to incorporate broader blockchain computer coding into government operations.
“It is critical that we engage early with industry and start learning the pros and cons of innovative technology early,” said Amy Tong, secretary of California’s Government Operations Agency and member of the CITRIS advisory board.
“We can take the next steps towards getting ahead of the curve and harnessing potential of these tools to make government better.”
