CITRIS ED offers op-ed on meat industry’s effects on climate change

A dry mountain landscape.

In the wake of COP27, many of us have climate change at the top of our minds. Camille Crittenden, CITRIS’s executive director, points out a perhaps unexpected avenue for improving our climate impact — reassessing our menu — in a recent Berkeley Blog post.

“Action must come from all corners: individuals, organizations and the government. Using principles of harm reduction, consider individual choice. If you eat meat three times a day, try just once a day. If you eat meat every day, try just five days a week. If you can’t live without bacon, don’t! Eat unlimited bacon but select vegetarian choices for the rest of your menu,” Crittenden wrote.
