Big Ideas competition now open to all CITRIS campuses

What’s Your Big Idea? The 2014-2015 Big Ideas at Berkeley contest is now open!

Big Ideas at Berkeley is an annual innovation contest that provides funding, support, and inspiration to interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate and graduate students who have creative solutions to address pressing social, environmental, or economic challenges. Its mission is to support students’ ingenious first attempts at social change and mentor students as their ideas take flight. By seeking out and supporting innovative proposals, Big Ideas has helped students make an impact all over the world.

The first information session is next Tuesday, September 9, 2015, at 6:30 pm (PST) in B100 Blum Hall at UC Berkeley. The session will also be streamed live for all campuses to tune in at http://bigideas.berkeley.edu/resources/workshop/

Big Ideas encourages students to propose innovative solutions across a broad range of social impact categories. Based on the scope of the project, teams will indicate a primary category that best fits their project. Categories open to students at all CITRIS campuses (UC Berkeley, UC Merced, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz) include:

  • Global health information
  • Technology for Society
  • Mobiles for Reading
  • Food System Innovations

Submissions are due by November 13, 2014, at 12:00 noon PST. For further information on deadlines, eligibility requirements, and events, please visit the Big Ideas website: http://bigideas.berkeley.edu.

We look forward to learning more about your Big Ideas!
