Tsu-Jae King Liu named new dean of Berkeley Engineering

The UC Berkeley College of Engineering has named Tsu-Jae King Liu its new dean, the first woman to hold that position and among only 60 women deans in the nation’s 368 engineering schools. Long a champion for women in engineering and as leaders in the technology sector, Liu co-founded the Women in Technology Initiative at the University of California in 2017, on behalf of the College of Engineering, together with CITRIS. Among many other distinctions, positions, awards, and accolades, Liu also directed Berkeley’s Microfabrication Laboratory for six years and oversaw its transition into the Marvell Nanofabrication Laboratory, for which she served as faculty director in 2012.

“We look forward to Tsu-Jae’s outstanding leadership and continued collaboration in this new position,” says Camille Crittenden, deputy director of CITRIS and the Banatao Institute and co-founder of the Women in Tech Initiative.
