Tarek Zohdi

Professor Tarek Zohdi is Chair of the Designated Emphasis in Computational and Data Science and Engineering (DE-CDSE) program at UC Berkeley. DE-CDSE is an interdisciplinary graduate minor coordinated through CITRIS that trains students to use and manage scientific data. Applications include analyzing complex physical systems or using statistics and machine learning along with data visualization to extract useful information from the massive amount of data that can be collected from sensors today.

Professor Zohdi’s research interests are:
I. Finite Element methods
II. Micro-structural/macro-property inverse problems involving optimization and design of new materials
III. Modeling and simulation of:
a. high-strength fabric
b. particulate/granular flows
c. multiphase/composite electromagnetic media
d. the dynamics of swarms
