Abstract:
This presentation will begin with the description of our teleimmersive technology, which is the basis for facilitating interaction and collaboration in geographically distance locations. Next, we will analyze critical issues involved in running the hardware and software of this system, such as the calibration of many cameras, real-time reconstruction of images of three-dimensional objects and people, real time display and networking. At the end, we will show a performance of coordinated dance events between artists at Berkeley and Illinois. Finally, we will discuss some ethical and philosophical questions that this technology raises.
